World Open of Photography

Created by Perry, The Open was the world’s first entirely social-media driven professional photography competition, awarding the best in action/street/nature/people. The contest had 12,000 entries with participation in 176 countries, generating millions of page views.

The Open featured some of the most published photographers of our time alongside emerging artists whose careers are only beginning to take flight.

Here’s how it worked: half of the 200 finalists were advanced by a judging panel comprised of some of the most respected eyes in the photography business, the other half through public online voting. From there the finalist images were presented anonymously for a sealed-ballot vote from a second panel of judges to determine category winners and Photographer of the Year.
